Farmers’ Market August

Sat, August 31 - Sat, August 31, 2019

The Roanoke Farmers' Market is held each Saturday morning from July 6th to September 7th. The Roanoke Downtown block of Main Street is closed off from 9 am to 1 pm as volunteers from the community help to line the streets with Amish made carts topped with gaily colored striped awnings. Local vendors arrive with farm fresh produce, plants, crafts and baked goods for sale. Visitors and residents stroll along the street filling their bags, chatting with friends and neighbors and enjoying the summer mornings. There are breakfast items to enjoy while shopping or lunch enjoyed early and plenty of farm fresh veggies to take home for later. The produce varies as the summer progresses with both heirloom and more familiar varieties. All are locally grown. By the end of July the carts and tables overflow with plump ripe tomatoes, squash, onions, potatoes, beans, and more – not forgetting the first of fresh Indiana corn on the cob. And don’t forget the fruit for a balanced diet! Fresh from the vine raspberries and blackberries and true blue blueberries grace the market.

Roanoke Fall Festival

Fri, September 6 - Sat, September 7, 2019

A yearly event since 1953, the Roanoke Fall Festival brings the community together for three days of fun and fellowship.

With three parades (a Pet Parade Thursday night at the park, Ageless Iron antique tractors on Friday and a full-out, band marching, candy tossing, politician stomping extravaganza on Saturday), a variety of carnival food, a cake & cookie competition, a pie eating contest, a tractor pull, and a demolition derby, it is an action packed weekend.

Kick off the festivities Thursday night with a Coloring Contest, Cookie Decorating and the Fall Festival Follies (local talent show)! Throughout each day there are kids’ games, a craft alley with local craft vendors and non-profits, antique tractor displays, and live entertainment. Most events take place in Roanoke's much loved town park with lots of food and carnival fun available throughout the weekend.

Renaissance in Roanoke

Sat, October 12 - Sat, October 12, 2019

Roanoke’s charming Main Street creates the perfect frame for the town’s annual outdoor art show called Renaissance in Roanoke. Started by local artists and business owners to highlight the renovated beauty of Roanoke's downtown, it offers a picturesque family setting with activities for all to enjoy.

Renaissance in Roanoke features local and regional artists who are on-hand to display and sell their original art with live demonstrations by some of the artists.

A favorite part of the day is the plein air competition. These artists arrive as early as 8 a.m. and set up their easels around town to begin painting or drawing. They capture a scene in Roanoke and as the day passes visitors to the event can watch the images emerge on canvas.

This is an invitational and juried show which offers the unique opportunity for the public to support the arts and to interact and purchase directly from the artist.
